Learning from the master...

Cate and Joel have really enjoyed the extra grandpa time while my dad has been here. He's very patient with them- one of the things that I tend to fail miserably at as a parent. Grandpa brought along a violin and a mandelin, so the kids really had fun playing around and learning a few of the very basics.
Joel's arms weren't long enough to hold the violin correctly, but he still really enjoyed his "lesson".

I miss falling asleep to dad playing the violin....or the guitar....or the piano....or the mandolin....or anything else.

I miss that and being read to. However, I realized while dad was here and Cate and Joel were practising why mom got headaches. We, apparently, weren't all that talented to begin with.

What do you mean we weren't talented? I specifically remember being a master at the violin the first time I tried it. I just can't figure out why I'm not as good now as I was back then.
